| Business Overview |
| I am a former freelance artist with a collection of
original wildlife paintings. Presently, I can no longer create new
art work, since I have lost most of my vision from an eye disease
called Retinitis Pigmentosa. For a number of years, I have been considering
an internet based business that would allow me to promote and sell
affordable, high-quality, professionally matted reproductions of my
art. I have considered many details of moving forward with this venture,
such as testing for marketability, reproduction/packaging services,
business loans and advertising.
Since I can no longer offer new creations, thus posing the possibility
of “becoming stale”, I am open to suggestions for a means of backing
up and/or sustaining the sole sale of art prints. Some ideas I've
considered and were suggested, may include offering gift items,
greeting cards, stationary, (some featuring my art), even arranging
for a portion of my sales proceeds to go to the RP Foundation Fighting
Blindness, or similar, for an extra "buying incentive". |

| Experience & Skills |
| The concept for my business was born out
of two vastly different disciplines for which I was successfully involved
with in the past - art and foodservice. I have invested literally
hundreds of hours producing many original wildlife paintings and drawings,
most still in my possession. After abandoning the art world, I became
a successful foodservice manager, thus acquiring much knowledge and
experience in operating a small business.
I've decided to make my hidden treasures of artwork available to
the public, via a web based ordering process. An understanding of
the web environment, attracting customers via advertising combined
with my proven self-discipline in managing a business may be the
key ingredients for launching and sustaining a viable art reproduction
service. Of course, I wish to test the marketability of my art before
investing more time, structured/detailed processes and funds.
My experience and education includes a life-long involvement in
the love and creation of art. I have an Associate’s Degree in Commercial
Art and my paintings have been published on the covers of state
wildlife magazines. I also completed the PA Business Enterprise
Training Program with a certificate in foodservice management. After
graduation, I embarked on a 13 year successful career as a foodservice
manager. |
